Hyundai may use same platform to develop new compact SUV, MUV
The country's second largest car maker Hyundai is scrambling to fill gaps in its portfolio of cars. It is expected to launch next year a compact SUV and also a multi-utility vehicle in 2015.
The cars are being designed at its centre in Namyang, Korea, and are expected to share the same platform, which will bring down costs and give economies of scale.
Honda launches 6 new Brio variants
Honda Cars India on Tuesday launched new variants of its small car Brio with some upgrades, including driver seat height adjuster and rear windshield defogger, as an additional safety feature.
Both these features were found to be among the most desirable features in the Brio based on the customers' feedback, the company said.

Escorts to launch heavy duty tractors from 2015
Escorts Ltd, one of the oldest manufacturers of agriculture and infrastructure equipment, has said the company will focus on premium tractors. To start with, it plans to launch a premium tractor in 2015.

The country's largest lead-acid battery maker reported a mere three per cent growth in net profit to Rs 146 crore during January-March 2013 against the previous year quarter.

Toyota full-year net profit triples to $9.7 bn
Toyota today said its full-year net profit more than tripled to USD 9.7 billion, with the world's largest automaker adding that it was on track for another soaring profit in the current fiscal year. The rosy annual profit underscores the recovery among Japan's major automakers after the 2011 quake-tsunami disaster devastated sales and production.
